BYLAWS

1. The President shall serve for a two-year term; shall preside at all meetings; shall be empowered to call special meetings when necessary; and shall exercise a general supervision of the organization. The President may appoint qualifying organization members to temporarily assist in fulfilling the responsibilities of any unfilled officer or committee positions until the election at the next family meeting.

2. The Vice President shall serve for a two-year term to fulfill goals and objectives and to give more stability and continuity to the family organization; and shall facilitate elections. At the completion of the term, the Vice President will step up to the office of President and a new Vice President will be elected.

3. The Secretary may remain in office indefinitely; shall prepare necessary correspondence, take and record all minutes; and perform other tasks in support of the organization.

4. The Financial Committee shall consist of three members. 1) A Treasurer who shall serve as Committee Chairman for a six-year term and may not be re-elected consecutively. 2) A member who shall serve for a four-year term, but may be re-elected for one additional four-year term consecutively. 3) A member who shall serve for a two-year term, but may be re-elected for two additional two-year terms consecutively; and will be governed by the following rules

The chairman and each committee member shall come from different family lines within the Thomas & Margaret John Family Organization.

Elections to the committee will be staggered so that at least one of the three committee members is replaced, or re-elected, every other year.

The responsibilities of the financial committee shall be:

To furnish detailed, accurate annual reports of the family organization funds including expenditures, investments, fund-raising activities, etc.

To collect the annual family dues.

To organize and conduct other activities for raising funds as directed by the family organization.

Propose amendments as necessary for next year if needed, in relation to the financial committee.

All checks for expenses must be signed by two members of the financial committee.

All monies are to be used just for the Thomas & Margaret John Family Organization reunions or for projects voted upon at the business meeting such as research.

5. The Genealogist may remain in office indefinitely. The genealogist and members of any genealogical committees shall gather all genealogical data for Temple work; institute Temple excursions; and otherwise stimulate, encourage, and promote the genealogical and Temple interests of all members of this Association.

6. The Historian and Family Line Representatives may remain in office indefinitely. They will work together with the President and Vice President in planning and organizing the family reunion; they will help in gathering and updating family information; they will encourage others to become part of the organization and attend the annual reunions.

7. The Technology Administrator may remain in office indefinitely. They will assist with all technology related responsibilities; they will help maintain the website, social media accounts, telecommunications needs, etc.
